Prayer Tips for Tween Ministry Workers

Hey Tweens!
Does the Bible have anything to do with friends? bullies? secrets? tests? The Bible is all about you! New tween devos are coming. Must read. . .coming from Zonderkidz in 2015.

You love kids. You want to teach them in VBS or Sunday School. You look at your list of tweens, your teacher's book, and the space where you will work. You only have one question.

What now?

Human nature nudges you to jump in and start doing. Maybe you could put up awesome decorations or plan engaging games. Those things are important, but your first tasks have a different focus.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.   Proverbs 3:5-6  (NIV)

Pray for the Tweens on Your Classlist

I blogged about the idea of praying for the tweens in your class here. You can start praying as soon as you know that you will be teaching. You don't have to wait for a list of names on paper. Remember that often those names are not available under very close to the event - such as Vacation Bible School.

When you pray for the kiddos, remember to pray for those who are not on the list. God know who He will lead to the group. Pray for His action in their lives that will prompt them to want to come and will facilitate that happening. Tweens don't have their own transportation, so many people come into play on this one.

Pray for Yourself and Your Coworkers

All kinds of things fall into this category. Tween ministry workers are people called for a purpose. Here are a few ways to pray, so that you and your coworkers are available for that purpose.
  • Pray for the health and safety of yourself, your coworkers, and your families.
  • Pray for the childcare workers who will watch the children of the workers and for the other young kiddos who will be in the childcare group.
  • Pray for clear focus to understand the message of the lesson.
  • Pray for soft hearts that will absorb the teachings of Jesus.
  • Pray for the opportunity to show Jesus' love to the tweens who will come.
  • Pray for flexibility.
  • Pray for stamina!
  • Pray for times of sweet rest and relaxation.
What else should be on the list? How do you pray for tween ministry workers? Feel free to add to the list with a comment below.
