THNX TXT

Thinking of reasons to be thankful? Many people are posting their thoughts for each day of November. Why not carry that over to your student ministry group? Except, challenge them to text their thanks. Seriously? Have them use their cell phones during our group time? Seriously.

  • Have them use their phones to text someone, telling that person why they are thankful for them.
  • If the recipient does not text (perhaps grandparents), have a time for them to call that person.
I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers. Philemon 1:4  (NIV)

More Photo Booth "Fun" Raiser Ideas

Is your kidmin or youth group planning a photo booth as a fundraiser? Here is another way you can have a photo booth "fun" raiser without taking pics as the fall festival.

  • Have the kids supply the photo booth props.
  • Take a picture of each church staff member with his/her choice of props.
  • Post the pics online or at an event.
  • Have people vote for their fave pic. (Option: Have people vote with a monetary contribution to use this as a fundraiser.)
Has your group sponsored a photo booth? Chime in with your comments. What worked and what didn't?

Sing Sing Sing for Jesus

Tonight is church night. One of my favorite things is the singing. How about you? If you are one of the music people up there at my church or your church - awesome. And thanks!

Am I in the choir?
                          Nope.

Will I sing a solo?

                          Nope.

How about play in the band?
                          And nope again.

As the world sees it, I am really not a musical person. No prob! When I worship, though, I am a singer. What is your favorite way to praise Jesus? The Bible talks a lot about praise. Here is a verse I love.

Sing to the Lord with grateful praise; make music to our God on the harp.  Psalm 147:7   (NIV)

I do have a grateful heart! So. . . tonight I will be off of here for awhile. It will be time to sing - sing - sing 4 God  : o )

Agape_SavetheDateMaybe you enjoy praising God while listening to awesome music. This weekend, a great group of musicians will lead two days of praising Jesus with music. The Agape Fest will take place on the campus of Greenville College in Greenville, IL (not far from St. Louis).

Here is a band list for Agape Fest. You can read all the other important info here.

I'm glad you stopped by my blog! A few days ago I blogged about my awesome opp to write tween devos for Zonderkidz. You can read about it here. I'm hoping that you will pray with me about the devos. You can sign up to be a prayer partner on the right. I won't share you contact info. Promise.

Forthcoming Tween Devotional Books from Zonderkidz

Thanks for stopping by my blog today. I promised that I had big news to announce. . . HUGE news, really! I am thrilled to announce that I have been asked to write two books for Zonderkidz. The books will be devotions for tweens (ages 9-12). I have been wanting to share the news with you for awhile. Isn't God amazing?

I pray that this blog will be a gathering place for those who love tweens. I seek your prayers as I complete this awesome task of sharing God's word. Those of you who know me know that I believe that this is not about my writing. Rather, it is an opportunity for God to work.

Today I am praising God and calling out to those who will pray for this work. Please join me here to follow the prayer needs and praises of this work. Let's pray together for the tweens who will read the devotions. Will you join me in doing that? You can get updates on the work. . . and special prayer requests by signing up to be a prayer partner on the form at the right.

I wonder who will gather here. I am praying for each of you already.

Are You a Tween?

Welcome! Hooray! I'm looking forward to many sweet prayer opps for you and the other tweens who will read these books.

Maybe You Are a Pastor or Student Ministry Worker

I am so happy to have you. Please don't hesitate to contact with topics that you would like to see in a tween devotional book.

Are You a Parent or Grandparent?

I love parents and grandparents! They are so often the prayer warriors of the family.

Maybe You Are a Writer

I seek your prayers that I will have the right words and God's guidance throughout this writing.

R U a Christian?

Anyone ever ask you that?

A Christian is forgiven by Christ. After that, he or she wants to follow Christ.

What does that mean? It is complicated - no simple - no BOTH!

God sent Jesus 4 U. Jesus died for your sins. and mine. and your parents. and everyone.

See. . . it is simple - no complicated - no BOTH!

Here is what the Bible says:

  •  No one is perfect.
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God  Romans 3:23 (NIV)

  • God sent his Son to pay for our mistakes (sins).
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 (NIV)

  • We can ask God to forgive our sins and accept the name of Jesus (become a Christian).
for, "Everyone who call on the name of the Lord will be saved." Romans 10:13 (NIV)

  • It is a FREE GIFT from God!
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith -- and this is not from yourselves, it is a gift of God. Ephesians 2:8 (NIV)

I want that Gift! what about U?
